Why I Don’t Believe In Atheists
There are some who claim to be atheist or agnostic. But there are none who are truly unaware or uncertain of God’s existence. Not only do they know that God is, they also know that God is both their Creator and their Judge.
For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. (Romans 1:19-21)
Observe:
1. Everyone has knowledge of God. It is “plain” (obvious, manifest) to them, because God has “shown” (made it known to) them (v.19). Also “they knew (to have awareness of) God” (v.21).
2. They have specific knowledge of a specific God, “His invisible attributes” (v.20). They know of His “Eternal power” and His “divine nature” (v.20).
3. This knowledge is explicit and has been understood, “clearly perceived” (v.20) in the creation “things that have been made” (v.20). This includes the atheist himself; his own existence and nature are proof of God. For the atheist has been created.
4. This knowledge is so certain that it subjects all men to the law of God,” they are without excuse” (v.20)
5. This knowledge is so certain that it requires all men to worship and praise their Creator, “they did not honor God or give thanks to Him” (v.21)
6. This knowledge is so certain that any failure to worship and praise God in response to it, results in God’s judgment, hence “they became futile in their thinking and their foolish hearts were darkened ”(v.21) because they would not worship and praise Him.
It is undeniable that everyone has knowledge of God. Not saving knowledge, but certain, specific and guilty knowledge of the one true God. The atheist says there is no God. God says there are no atheists. Who will you believe?
